IOC species number not corresponding was created by Thijs de Groot
Hi Mike,
I noticed on my World List when I look at Families that the number of total species per family are not corresponding with the latest IOC update 13.1.
Their new total number of bird species is 11140, but my World List still has the 'older' total of 10980. That also means the percentages of seen birds aren't right anymore.
See: bubo.org/my-lists.html?list_id=39056&mode=family
I love your website and really appreciate all the work you do!
Cheers,
Thijs

Hi Thijs
Sorry for the delay, but isn't this the same as bubo.org/10-general-discussion/1490-ioc-13-1.html#2000 , i.e. the difference is because we exclude extinct species as they aren't really "available" to see?

You're absolutely right, Mike. I missed the 160 extinct species.
Sorry for bothering you.
