Bugs following upgrade

27 Mar 2023 18:23 #1 by Mike Prince
Following the recent  system upgrade  there are occasional errors that mean it's not possible to add species to lists, or that viewing lists or blockers gives the error "prepared statement needs to be reprepared". We're investigating, but unfortunately it only seems to occur sometimes when there are several users using the system, so it's not easy to debug. Please bear with us...!

Looks good! Much tidier, and definitely seems faster.

I have two very minor things to point out:

When you combine lists, there is no longer the option to append a location (i.e. [Britain])

On the home page, I think there is too much white space or padding - on my 1980x1020 screen, the 4 lists are now shown vertically so I now need to scroll down, previously they all fit nicely without scrolling.

Hi John

Thanks very much for the comments. The first point is a bug and I will look into it. For the second, I don't have such a high resolution screen so it was a bit difficult testing, but I was finding it looked awkward with two lists side-by-side, particularly where one is extra wide or wraps due to a long title or long lister names, e.g. Britain, Ireland and Isle of Man Life List . However, I'll try some options out.

Hi Mike,

I haven't experienced any issues that you've mentioned but wondered if the ability to download lists to Excel has gone with this update, or did I miss it going previously?

Thanks,
Jon

Hi Jon

Yes, that's one thing I still need to work on but it will be coming back!

Combining lists should work and allow you to append a location if you want to:

Hi Mike,

Did the location bugfix get rolled back? I've don't have that option (On PC, using Chrome) - but I was sure I'd seen it!

John

No, nothing has changed: it should be working as before.

Hi Mike - sorry for the slow response. It looks like a browser issue, the option is there using Firefox, but not present when using Chrome.

That's strange, because it seems fine on Chrome to me. I don't have Firefox to test.

Ah, I refreshed whilst having dev tools open, that fixed it.

Must have been in the cache, I've never known Chrome cache something for so long! All good now, sorry to bother you with it!

Hi, Just notice what is probably a bug.  When you view a list, and select a specific taxon, it's OK on the first page but if you need to go to a second page, the selection of the taxon disappears and what you get is the second page of the full list with all taxa in standard order.

Hi Dennis

Thanks for mentioning this. There are a few issues with pagination and sorting when viewing a filtered list that I haven't had a chance to look into yet.

The pagination bug has now been fixed: you can page through a large list whether filtered by family/taxon group or viewing the entire list.
